It's not every night that one gets to dress in their finest dress and rabbit ears and enjoy a home made pizza. Well, Ingy is pleased to show off her great style and cooking skills.

Happy Summer

Today is the first day of summer. I love summer, but I don't like this day because I know the days will begin to shorten and I'm definately not a long, dark, winter days person. Thank goodness I have my trusty flute and new challenges to keep my brain from completely drying up and blowing away. Here is my latest discovery and thanks to the internet, I found the sheet music. This is gonna be fun :o)

Twins

Yesterday was such a beautiful day that I grabbed my camera and walked along the waterfront to check out the changes that have taken place over our long, wet winter months.
The Modoc has been tying up in the harbor for years. Two weeks ago, her twin arrived and is now anchored just off her stern, which makes for an easy picture of the two.
They were originally ocean going tugs, for the Navy, but now belong to private owners and would certainly make great homes.
I think the highlight of my walk was visiting with an older gentleman who had recently been widowed. He was sitting in the sun on a picnic table bench at Jerisich Park and as we struck up a conversation, we found we had known lots of the same "old timers" in the Purdy and Wauana area where I grew up and where he raised his family. He said he usually comes down in the afternoon about the same time when the weather cooperates and to come by again. That I will do :o)

Friends and Relatives

Jacob's mommy and daddy needed a baby sitter the other evening and granny wasn't available so the next best bet was Ingy. She loves being with Jacob and he with her. Ingy's daddy had forgotten just how busy a 2 year old can be and he is very happy that his two girls are 4 and 7 and so much easier to take care of.

Calvin Knapp

Calvin Knapp was one of my high school english teachers. Why such a talented musician was put to the task of teaching english to a bunch of students who had no desire to absord even the tiniest bit of knowledge is beyond me. He was an incredibly talented pianist and he wasn't long at Peninsula High School. He soon moved on to Pacific Lutheran University where he retired at age 75 as a full professor.
He passed away last week, at the age of 86. I am glad to have known him and to have heard him tinkle those ivory keys. And, I am a sorry I wasn't more well behaved in his class....I honestly thought assonance meant stupid since it sounded like asinine.
Assonance is the refrain of vowel sounds to create internal rhyming within phrases or sentences and together with alliteration and consonance serves as one of the building blocks of verse. HUH? Do you like blue?

100,000

I had my trusty camera with me today and took a pix as the miles on my "96" Honda Accord changed to 100,000...I haven't touched it since I had a tune up at 45,000 miles, other than change the oil ,new brakes and I did change the air filter a while back. I am going to make an appointment for another tune up which I hope will be enough to keep it going for a long long time. I am hoping my next car will be all electric and be able to go at least 150 miles on a charge.

Pulling

No need to go to the gym for a good workout. The guys finally have the net all together and are in the process of pulling it onto the trailer so they can get it down to the dock and onto the boat, where it will be much easier to move, thanks to the help of the power block. Most of the fishermen had their own docks with the shed on the dock. My husband's dad built his shed just above his home which made it very handy when it came time to work on the net, but not so handy when it came time to transfer it onto his boat. But, since they lived directly above city dock, it was just a short drive down the hill, onto the dock and, in his day, lots of pulling by hand onto the "turn table" because the power block hadn't been invented yet.
As always, lots of prayers for our fishermen as they head out for their annual season.

We Three

I should have waited until Father's Day to share this photo, but couldn't wait..it's just too sweet. Jacob and his stuffed toy were along with daddy to do a little shopping at Home Depot. With mama bringin up the rear, she saw the perfect photo op before her eyes. If this isn't one of the cutest pictures, I don't know what is :o)

Harbor Heights

I found this pix in my email this morning of my granddaughter. When my middle son was in elementary school at Harbor Heights in the 70's, they had a design the school shirt contest and if there is one thing he has always been able to draw, it's fishing boats. His design won and of course we had to buy more than one and of course keep them forever!!! I was tickled to see his daughter wearing one when I opened my email and it sure brought back memories of all the fun times we had when the kids were young. Life seemed much kinder and gentler then.

Fun Day

It was a perfect day yesterday for the blessing. We had worried that it might be too warm, but it clouded over to give us a layer of protection from the hot sun and as you can see in the pix, everyone had a great time. I don't think I have ever seen such a huge assortment of small to large watercraft, from people on stand up paddle boards to some mighty fancy yachts that could take you anywhere in the world you would want to travel. I had debated whether I wanted to go out for all the festivity, but am glad I said yes.

Blessing of the Fleet

Today is the annual Blessing of the Fleet. This picture was taken by one of our local photographers and of course doctored just a bit. I am still torn when it comes to taking a really good picture , but then messing with it. Oh well, maybe I am just jealous that I don't have a really good camera and software with which to do the messing :o) Anyway, today's weather is going to be fantastic and I know folks will have a really fun afternoon.

June 11th Concert

Just a reminder that Gig Harbor Peninsula Civic Orchestra's next concert is in just a week. We have been practicing our little hearts out and will give it our best. We did find out that our second trumpet player lost his father and because of the funeral, which must be some distance away, he wont be able to play. Gasp!!!! Let's hope we are able to find another !!!!!
June 11th, 7:00 pm, Peninsula High School.
