Crew

I found this picture the other day...Nick is on the far right, but I have no idea who the others are. I did notice that there was a turn table on the stern which meant they had to pull the net in by hand. Now the fishermen use a powerblock which does all the pulling which leaves the  crew to do the piling :o)

Looooooking

Just for fun...I had to add this .....I was dancing with a long long long time friend at the party last night, and my sons were caught  on camera, staring.....I thought it pretty funny. Ya gotta love those protective sons :o)

Class of 58

Here we are again...the class of 58 gals...and this time we were at the annual Gig Harbor Fishermen's dinner. It was held at the Eagles hall, which is a great place for this kind if affair.  It was sold out as usual and the food was great, as usual. The guys BBQ fresh Copper River salmon that is flown down by one of the members of the fishermen's club who fishes out of Cordova each year. We also had delicious spaghetti, salad, rolls, and all the cake you can eat :o)  Oh...and of course beer and wine. And ...a great band that brought folks off their chairs and onto the dance floor in droves :o)

RIP Michael

There will be a lot of sad faces when members of our orchestra read the email from our director informing us that our beloved bassoon player, Michael, passed away in his sleep this week. He was always early to practice because he had to use a wheelchair and it took him extra time to get in and out of his van and  get all of his equipment into rehearsal. He was such fun to visit with and loved making music more than anything else in life. He will be greatly missed.

Flipping

The girls spent the afternoon at my place yesterday and after they helped me carry out and put together the wonderful swing  their daddy gave me years ago, we  had a tea party. Bergen did most of the work and Ing and I totally enjoyed being served. After we'd had enough bananas, strawberries and tea, it was time for the show :o)  Both girls take or have taken gymnastics so they showed granny what they have learned. I have never been able to do a back flip, but as you can see, Bergen can do one..then another, then another. To be quite honest..it hurts to watch :o)

Daddy's card

I don't usually pick the kids up at school, but at the last minute, Ing's daddy called and asked if I could run up and get the girls since he was knee deep in paint. I was more than happy to oblige. As Ing came out the door wearing a huge smile and  carrying the giant blue birthday card that she and the rest of her classmates had made for her daddy, and expecting to see daddy waiting there for her, there I was :o(   My heart broke when I saw the disappointment on her face.  But, it all worked out in the end. Once we were back at  my house, she taped the beautiful card onto my front door, and then we all watched as he came to pick her up. He looooooooooooooooved it and it made up for the abrupt change in plans earlier in the day.

Lots n lotsa cars

Jacob hit the jackpot yesterday!! I had  hauled everything....and I mean everything out of one of the basement bedrooms.....it could have been a scene from the reality show "hoarder"!!!!!!! As I went through the stuff in an old laundry basket.... there... in a plastic bag.... were a bunch of old hot wheels cars that belonged to his daddy when he was young. Some were still in their original packaging !!!  When he stopped by yesterday for some play time at granny's, I showed him my wonderful discovery and  he was ecstatic, as you can see from the look on his face. We took one of the leaves/leafs/ whatever ya call them ...from the dining room table and made a ramp. The rest of the afternoon was nuthin but fun :o)

Pensive

Jacob was kinda tired when I took this pix, plus he was watching a program on TV about bees and honey. In his hands is a small jar of honey I had in the cupboard and he wanted to taste it. We took a whiff of it and it didn't smell all that great because it had been in the cupboard for who knows how long so we tossed it.
Oh..and look...the first cruise ship in Seattle this year.
