Dinner with Dick

It was my friend Dick's birthday the other evening and as you can see, the weather was beautiful. He rented one of the four houseboats again this year and we spent the evening kayaking and eating leftovers from the night before.  There wass no end to the activities going on,but the highlight was watching the kids jump from the railing into the water. Oh to be young again :o)

Circle of life

I spent a few days at Long Beach with a friend and our walk along the beach took us past the remains of a very dead salmon.  There were quite a few salmon carcasses along the beach and quite a few salmon fishermen just out past the surf in small boats, catching salmon to their hearts content. It looked as if they filleted them and fed the remains to the hungry scavengers.

Sox

Oh boy, did Jacob ever love the new sox from Costco....a package of 8 that contained sox with soccer, basketballs, footballs and baseballs on them....the other three pair were plain, but who cared.

Sold

My friend has more room in his garage as of yesterday. He has owned this 1967 Mercedes since 1987 and within an hour after he put an ad in Craigslist, calls started flooding in, most from California. The fellow who ended up buying was from southern Cal., was originally from germany and was thrilled with his purchase. He flew up the day after he saw the ad, paid for it and yesterday a car carrier loaded it on and away it went. At our age, less is definately more.

Yard makeover

My friend has been tearing his deck apart, replacing rotten decking, painting decking, hauling dirt and laying sod and at last is finished. He has created quite a serene place in his backyard which he looks out at from his kitchen window. The weather has been nice enough so that we have been able to enjoy all his work.
