Goodbye

This may sound strange, but there are a whole bunch of us old time KIRO chatters who lost a long time friend. Most of us had never met him, but we felt we really got to know him well thanks to our crazy HTML world. KIRO AM radio used to have a chat that some hosts would join when on air. We would type comments and occasionally they would be read to the listeners.
As time went by, we chatters became too rowdy and finally the chat was discontinued, but along the way, we taught each other about tags, fonts, img's, href's, links and most important, closing tags. We chatters started planning get-togethers at safe public places and once we found that we were none of us dangerous, though some of us, honestly, kinda scary looking, we met often, usually at Christmas time, for great get-togethers. Why even the mayor of the town of Pacific was and still is, part of our group. There's even been a marriage between two of those among us. Many of us still stay connected via the internet through Facebook and other forums because it seems that by sharing our opinions etc, we have made lasting friendships. RIP my friend Dak.

Vaclav Klaus

You gotta love this guy. Czech President Vaclav Klaus says the UN should stay out of economics and global warming. Most times, I think the UN members should stay home. Maybe we could blast those involved with the United Nations Outer Space Affairs into outer space to earn their pay. If aliens ever land on earth there will no longer be any confusion over who will greet them with the news the United Nations is set to appoint an astrophysicist to be their first human contact.
Mazlan Othman is expected to be tasked with coordinating humanity’s response to an extraterrestrial visit, if ever required.
I think I need a nap.

Toys

Thanks to the "Kindle 3", I am reading again. Who'da thunk it would be so easy to use. I download a book from Amazon.com. using my neighbors router :o), and can read indoors or out with no problem at all. It's easy to pop in my purse when I am off on a trip, or read in bed...no pages to turn, just the press of a button on the side. It turns off by itself when set down and when turned back on, it goes right to the page I'm on.
Lordy lordy, this would sure be a great tool for school, but not so much on a bus.

Class Of 58

Well here we are again...or some of us from the Class of 1958...at the annual Mega 50's reunion at the Eagles Hall.
We are all now 70, still upright and still able to party :o)

What is it?

It was museum grand opening day, dog walk day and Lions Club salmon BBQ day yesterday, plus the rain took time out for all the events so the harbor was packed with people enjoying one of those wonderful September days we so often have.
Ingy spent the day with granny while mama took big sis to her soccer game and we, of course, had to join in the fun. Along our way we did a careful inspection of the new house being built on the Skansie lot. It is going to be a lovely home, with a view to die for, especially from the rock section in front. We aren't sure if it will be for seating or a hot tub...we are hoping table and chairs, but wont know until we find someone to answer our question, or just wait til it's done.

School Girl

Our little miss Ingrid started preschool this week. Her teacher is also a photographer...aren't we all...but she is more on the professional side. Anyway...she took pictures of all her new students and I think she caught our little missy in a perfect pose.

Kjirstin Nicole

We took a drive down the coast this week and the first thing I spotted when we drove along the waterfront in Westport was the tophouse of the Kjirstin Nicole. Uncle George built it for my hubby years ago when she was our boat and her name was, Maria. I was tickled to see her so well cared for and hope she has many years of service left in her :o)

Net builder

Jacob is getting his first taste of net building as daddy sews the net to the cork line. If he grows up and becomes a fisherman, he will spend some long hours on his feet.

September 11

Let's hope our country can be as calm and peaceful as the morning was in Friday Harbor when I snapped this picture.
I posted this before, but think it's worth another listen. And...don't ya just love their teacher's enthusiasm.

New Building

There is going to be a new building next to The Harbor Peddler. Right now the workers are dealing with lots of mud thanks to the downpour we had yesterday. I forgot to look at the sign so if it said what will be there, I can't tell ya.

Back Yard Deer

I don't think there is anything cuter than a mama and her little one. These two come to visit occasionally to dine on fallen apples and fresh wild blackberries. I did have to scold them yesterday when I saw them sniffing at the tomatoes that are still ripening on the vine. It will be interesting to see who wins in the end...me or them !!

First Day of First Grade

It was an exciting day yesterday as Bergen headed for her first day in first grade and granny was so pleased that she stopped by on her way to school.
She loves her teacher and one of her best friends is in her class. What more could a girl want !!
